About
Hey, I’m Mike — I’m a 55-year-old guy who’s been through more than a few battles.
But the toughest fight?
Reclaiming my own health and vitality in my 50s.
After serving over 25 years in the Canadian Forces, I knew what it meant to be in peak condition. At 29, I was dialed in — strong, focused, and unstoppable. But life has a way of shifting gears. Work got intense, family became the priority (as it should), and somewhere along the way, I started losing my edge. The workouts got shorter, the stress got heavier, and the guy in the mirror didn’t look, or feel, like the man I used to be.
Then, a recent diagnosis of eye cancer hit me like a truck. And while it was tough to hear, it also lit a fire under me. I realized I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel. As long as I’ve got breath in my lungs, it ain’t over…
That’s when The Fit 50 Project finally came to life — an idea I’d shelved for years, always waiting for the “right time.”
Turns out, the right time is now.
This isn’t just about me getting back in shape. It’s about fighting back against illness, burnout, and the slow decline so many men feel as they hit midlife. The Fit 50 Project is my way of helping other men in their 50s (and beyond) reclaim their energy, strength, and confidence.
Through the newsletter, podcast, and YouTube channel, I’m sharing real strategies on fitness, nutrition, and mental toughness. No fluff, no gimmicks, and definitely no six-pack promises. Just straight-up, no-BS advice from someone who’s in the trenches with you.
If you’re tired of the dad bod, the brain fog, or putting things off till “next Monday,” you’re in the right place.
- Let’s take back our strength.
- Let’s feel good again.
- Let’s show the world that 50 is just the beginning.

PS. In the photo below, I’m wearing a shirt from a brother-in-arms, Mark Meincke, that I served with who has a very successful podcast in the military and first responder community. Go check it out, it’s called Operation Tango Romeo: The Trauma Recovery podcast.
