Episode #004 – Overview
If you’ve ever felt stuck… overwhelmed… or like nothing is working anymore, this episode is for you. In this episode, I share the real story behind the Fit 50 Project, where it all got started, what I went through, and why I decided to take control of my health again. This isn’t just about fitness. It’s about getting your life back.
The Intro
I talk about what the Fit 50 Project really is (it’s more than just a podcast), who I am, and how this can help you. I’m not coming at this as someone who has it all figured out. I’m in the middle of the journey, and sharing what’s working in real time so you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Key Themes & Moments
Who I Am
- 27+ year Canadian Armed Forces veteran
- 35+ years of weight-lifting experience
- Currently completing Precision Nutrition Coaching (PN1)
The Struggle
For years, I couldn’t get my nutrition right. Diet after diet, weight going up and down, burnout, stress, and mental fatigue. It got to the point where I didn’t feel in control of my own life anymore.
The Turning Point
In October 2024, I was diagnosed with Stage III-b uveal melanoma. After surgery in May 2025 and a difficult recovery, I made a decision: I stopped feeling sorry for myself, and started taking care of me.
The Shift
I enrolled in Precision Nutrition and became my own first client. In the first month, I lost 14 pounds, and over 10 weeks I lost 32 pounds. For the first time in years, things started working.
What the Fit 50 Project Is
It’s more than content. It’s a podcast, newsletter, YouTube channel, and website. But more importantly, it’s a community built for men in their 50s who feel stuck, burned out, confused, and like nothing is working.
Why This Matters to You
You’re not alone. Your struggles are normal, and change is still possible after 50. I’m sharing what’s working in real time so we can figure this out together.
Key Takeaway
You don’t need to do everything. You just need to take the next step. Setbacks are normal, and progress happens one decision at a time.
